As reported by Ouest-France this morning, Police have raided the club offices of SCO Angers – with a warrant issued by prosecutors to look into the financial transactions of the club and the role of certain agents in transfer dealings.

This comes after an investigation which started in June, which aimed both Angers and AS Saint Étienne for having hidden financial links with agents. A preliminary investigation was opened for illegal exercise of the profession of sports agent and aggravated money laundering. Three agents who did not hold an official licence were taken into custody. Angers sports advisor Jalal Benalla, who was not at the club at the time, was also questioned in June, then released without charge.
L’Équipe contacted SCO communications director, Mohamed Sifaoui, who did not respond. The Angevin club currently sit bottom of Ligue 1 with only eight points to their name and key players Sofiane Boufal and Azzenine Ounahi set to depart – they have also been imposed wage and transfer limitations from French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG.
