Sebastian Vettel says he will gladly support Mick Schumacher’s efforts in F1 and share with the young Haas driver everything he knows.
Vettel has never concealed his admiration for seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, a man who inspired the German early on in his motorsport career, and whose advice was often sought by the 53-time Grand Prix winner.
As Schumacher Jr is set to embark on his own career in Grand Prix racing, Vettel feels compelled to give back to the 21-year-old Ferrari junior what he received from his idol.
“I am a Michael fan,” said Vettel. “I’m happy to help where I can, Mick is a great guy, I have a very special connection to his father.
“From my side, I really like him, we get on well, and I’m happy to tell him everything I know.
“I watched his father winning a lot more races than he could have watched me win! I would be happy to help.”

While Vettel is willing to lend a helping hand to Schumacher and share his insight and knowledge, as a mentor rather than a paternal figure, the four-time world champion also insists that the young German follow his own path within his new environment.
“The way I look at him, I see him as a person, where I can help him in his life or on track with some of the things I went through in my career,” Vettel explained.
“I’m happy to help, but I think it’s important for him to find his own path, follow his own way.
“As much as it helped me that Michael had things to say when I asked, I’m trying to do the same thing to him.”
