WWE surprised everyone when they made Daniel Bryan the WWE Champion and turned him heel and the Wrestling Observer Radio has given some details on the choice.
According to Dave Meltzer, turning heel is something that Bryan himself has been wanting for a while now since he returned to in-ring competition but Vince McMahon had held off on the decision until this week.
Over the weekend, prior to Becky Lynch’s injury, Vince decided that he didn’t want AJ Styles vs Brock Lesnar at WWE Survivor Series this weekend and decided to put Bryan in the match instead, which is why a title change needed to take place to allow that to happen.
Vince determined it was best to get both the title change and the heel turn done on the same day as it made more sense, although it is unknown who will be the babyface when it comes to Sunday as Brock Lesnar has been portrayed as a heel as of late.
