Goldberg is officially the next challenger for Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship.
Lashley will defend his WWE Championship against Goldberg at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 21. A confrontation between Lashley and Goldberg on Raw tonight led to the match being made official for SummerSlam later in the episode.
After Goldberg headed to the back following the confrontation, Lashley went face-to-face with Goldberg’s son Gage at ringside. Lashley and MVP both taunted Gage. As MVP was telling Gage that Lashley will end Goldberg’s career at SummerSlam, Goldberg came back out and hit a spear on MVP.

Goldberg returned to Raw two weeks ago and kicked off the build to him facing Lashley at SummerSlam. Goldberg also confronted Lashley on that episode, but Lashley dismissed Goldberg’s challenge. Lashley finally accepted the challenge during a backstage interview on Raw tonight. Lashley said he hopes Goldberg brings his son with him to SummerSlam so his son can watch Lashley annihilate Goldberg.
SummerSlam will be the first time Goldberg has wrestled since losing to Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble this January.
Lashley has been WWE Champion since winning the title from The Miz this March.
