A fan has leaked details of Eddie Jones’ notebook after capturing what the Wallabies head coach had pencilled down.
Jones attended the Melbourne Super Round at AAMI Park this past weekend to cast an eye over his potential squad members.
With pen and paper in hand, Jones made notes through the weekend, and one spectator managed to photograph a list in Jones’ notebook. The fan shared the image on Twitter before deleting it soon after.
Leaked teams
But deleting the image did not stop his notes from being leaked permanently.
The former England head coach had jotted down two starting line-ups with options in each position. He also had a list of overseas stars, but this was obscured by his hand.
Jones’ first Wallabies line-up included James Slipper, Dave Porecki and Allan Ala’alatoa in the front-row. Darcy Swain and Cadeyrn Neville were the locks, with Rob Valetini, Michael Hooper and Langi Gleeson making up the back-row.
Nic White and Noah Lolesio featured as the half-backs, with Lalakai Foketi and Len Ikitau as the centres. Mark Nawaqanitawase is listed as ‘Nawa’ on the left wing, with Waratahs’ breakout star Max Jorgensen on the right. Tom Wright was named as the full-back.
The first two lists exclusively featured Australia-based players, with the second list featuring Tom Robertson, Folau Fainga’a and Pone Faamausili in the front-row. Locks Jed Holloway and Nick Frost are in the engine room while the loose forward options included Pete Samu, Liam Wright, Harry Wilson and Fraser McReight.
Jones’ response
Jones’ hand obscures the second list of backline players, including Tate McDermott, Tom Lynagh, Ben Donaldson, Suliasi Vunivalu and Reece Hodge.
The Sydney Morning Herald approached Jones about the list, which he dismissed as “scribble”.
The Wallabies head coach will name his first squad in the coming weeks, which will assemble for a training camp from April 17 to 19.
