WWE Superstar Fandango posted a photo on Instagram showing off his left arm in a sling, with the caption, “My dreams of pitching in the MLB are kinda over…”
Fandango, 38, also included the hashtag “tommyjohn”, seemingly indicating that he recently underwent a procedure known as ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, or Tommy John’s Surgery.
The surgery was named after the 26-season major league baseball pitcher of the same name, and requires a ligament in the elbow to be replaced by a tendon either from another part of the recipient’s body, or from a donor.
Fandango last wrestled on the December 11th edition of WWE NXT in a tag team match against the Singh Brothers. During the match, he delivered a maneuver on the floor and immediately began clutching at his left arm, before quickly finishing the match with a top rope elbow drop – notably using his other arm.
It’s been a rough year for the veteran wrestler, as far as in-ring competition is concerned. Fandango suffered a series shoulder injury in 2018 that put him on the shelf for over a year. He and Tyler Breeze had only just returned to the NXT brand as a tag team in August.
