The major sensation of the Russian Superleague quarterfinals was Dynamo Krasnodar’s defeat of regular season winner Iskra Odintsovo.
Zenit Kazan, Dynamo Moscow, Lokomotiv Belgorod and Dinamo Krasnodar advanced to the semifinals of the Russian Men’s Superleague.
The other favorite Zenit Kazan booked their semifinal spot by winning a decisive tie-break at home against Yaroslavich Yaroslavl, led by the superb opposite Semen Poltavsky who scored a total of 102 points across the five matches, who were leading 14-11 in the fifth set.
FIVB Club World Championships 2010 participants Dynamo Moscow advanced to the semis with three wins over Fakel Novy Urengoy.
In three of the quarterfinal series, the team with the lower regular season ranking proceeded to the semifinals.
