The Paris Saint-Germain players were furious at the match referee Pierre Gaillouste after he showed Sergio Ramos a red card for dissent in the 41st minute of their game against Reims on Saturday evening.
After the halftime whistle, PSG captain Marquinhos spoke to the mics of Canal+, criticising the referee’s decision to brandish the red card against the Spaniard. The 28-year-old Brazilian stated:
“It’s incredible! It’s becoming too much. I don’t know if there’s something personal against us. I don’t want to talk about refereeing all the time. We know that their job is very difficult. But still, he has to have control of the match. Every time we go near him, he gives us a card, and we can’t talk. I don’t know what he heard, but he gave him a red. Sergio approached, he didn’t like the gesture and gave the card.”
Following Ramos’ departure, PSG took a foot off the paddle and stayed compact defensively, limiting their options in the offensive front. The scoreline stayed 0-0 after the ninety minutes of play as the reigning Ligue 1 champions shared the spoils with Reims.
