The fall wedding we’ve got heart eyes over
As soon as we saw the photos from Savannah and Callahan’s wedding we were in love. Hello romantic lake and stunning pine forest! (Where are all my Lake House fans at???) For their rustic lakeside wedding, Savannah and Callahan celebrated their love of nature and the season by creating arrangements using flowers that perfectly embodied the fall season.
The couple created their own flower cart. Bouquets and arrangements were made using Burgundy Carnations, Copper Cushion Flower, Nandina, Rust Cushion Flower, Safari Sunset and Blue Thistle, letting their creative juices flow and perfectly suiting the fall season! Even though they had no prior floral experience they absolutely crushed their flower game! Keep reading to hear about their special day!
What was your favorite part about DIYing?
I put together all the bouquets and boutonnières the night before the wedding (which I had such a wonderful time doing) and was amazed at how many flowers I had left over and wasn’t sure what I was going to do with the rest of them. Once we got to the venue the day of the wedding, I decorated the wedding arch and still had tons left over.
My incredible bridesmaids told me to go get ready and they would handle all the flowers. They completely decked out the whole reception area, not only decorating the tables but hanging flower buds from the ceiling for a beautiful tuscan feel. I was amazed! They used every single one of the flowers and it was beautiful!

Why did you choose to DIY your flowers?
It was so budget friendly, it allowed me to be creative and create exactly what I wanted!
Who did you have help from?
My mom and my bridesmaids!
Was it a destination wedding?
No
Where did you get married and why did you choose this location?
We got married at Blue Heron Lake, a beautiful outdoor venue with our ceremony in a pine forest, and reception in a barn next to a very blue lake. We both love the outdoors, and I have always wanted to have a ceremony in the woods. It was perfect for both of us.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle to my husband in tears. I will forever cherish that moment.

In hindsight, is there anything you would have done differently?
Incredibly no, our wedding was honestly everything I dreamed of. It was a low key, stress free day, and surrounded by our favorite people. We loved everything about our wedding, and wouldn’t change a thing!

Were there any funny or strange mishaps you can share?
Not a mishap but something that made me laugh was when all my flowers first arrived. I have no experience working with flowers and was having a hard time judging how many flowers and greenery I would need. Well when they arrived my mom and I got to unpacking, cutting and putting them in water.
We had two giant boxes and were both amazed as I kept pulling bunch after bunch after bunch out of the boxes! There was so much! Our kitchen looked like a jungle until the wedding! I really didn’t think I had ordered that much so it was quite amusing as more and more flowers kept appearing from the boxes!
How did you add personalized touches to your day?
I kept every bottle of wine that me and my husband shared from the time we started dating till our wedding. We used the wine bottles as flower vases for the tables at the reception.
Which part of your wedding are you most proud of?
The bouquets and boutonnière I created! I have no experience working with flowers and was so proud of myself when I was able to create exactly what I have envisioned!
