AS Monaco have wasted no time in replacing the departing Joao Moutinho today, swiftly confirming the signing of midfielder Jean-Eudes Aholou from Strasbourg.
The 24-year-old moves to the Stade Louis II on a 5-year deal, for a fee understood to be worth around €15m.
Aholou leaves RC Strasbourg after 18 months at the Stade de la Meinau, impressing in a spell that oversaw the club’s promotion from Ligue 2 in 2016/17, as well as last season’s term of consolidation that saw Thierry Laurey’s side finish 15th in Ligue 1.
The transfer represents a significant step up for Aholou- who spent a two-year spell at Ligue 2 side Orléans prior to his move to Strasbourg- and will likely see the Ivorian make his Champions League debut next season.
The central midfielder recently collected his first international cap for the Ivory Coast, making his debut in a 2-2 friendly fixture against Togo in March 2018.
