205 Live opens up with General Manager Drake Maverick previewing tonight’s main event as well as the debut of Lio Rush.
Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness & Percy Watson welcomes us to tonight’s show as we get to the first match of the night.
Akira Tozawa vs. Tony Nese: Buddy Murphy initially comes out with Nese to get him psyched for the match, then returned to the back. Tozawa gets some offense early on, but Nese works his knee to get him down. Nese nails Tozawa with a huge chop. Tozawa nails Nese with a penalty kick followed by a standing senton as Nese heads to the outside. Tozawa looks to fly, but Nese moves away. Tozawa tries to dive off the apron, but is caught and dropped. Nese dumps Tozawa face first on the apron. Back in the ring, Tozawa hits Nese with a shining wizard. Tozawa goes up top, but Nese rolls to the outside. Tozawa goes right for a suicide dive and lands it this time. Back in the ring, Tozawa hits Nese with a missile dropkick then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Tozawa is slow to the top rope and Nese knocks him down. Nese nails Tozawa with a gutbuster then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Both men up on the top turnbuckle. Tozawa is able to counter and throw Nese down face first to the mat. Tozawa with a diving senton then goes for a cover and gets the 1-2-3. Winner: Akira Tozawa
We see a recap of Hideo Itami defeating Mustafa Ali & Buddy Murphy in last week’s main event.
We head backstage where we see that General Manager Drake Maverick is having a talk with WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander. Alexander feels like he has been on the sideline for a few weeks and would like to know who his next challenger will be. Maverick says that once he figures that out, he will let Alexander know. Alexander thinks that it is Itami, but Maverick doesn’t want to reward bad behavior. Alexander then says that he wants to continue building his legacy and the only way to do that is continuing beating opponents. Maverick then says that he will think it over and the champion heads off.
Lio Rush vs. Dewy James: This is Rush’s debut match on 205 Live. The bell rings and Rush slowly takes off his jewelry and then slaps James in the face. Rush with a number of redirects, dodges an attack and hits a flurry on his opponent. Rush tosses James to the apron and a handspring kick takes James out. James gets back in the ring and gets a boot to the head. Rush heads up to the top rope and hits the final hour (split-legged frog splash). Rush covers and this is over. Winner: Lio Rush
After the match, Dasha Fuentes interviews Lio Rush and asks him what we can expect from him in the future. Rush says that he can do things that guys in the back can only dream of doing. Rush then says that these guys have no style or presence and eventually they will all feel the rush.
We head backstage where we see that Renee Young is interviewing Cedric Alexander. She asks him about his decision to lobby for Itami. Alexander says that he was impressed by Hideo Itami beating Mustafa Ali & Buddy Murphy and repeats the same stuff about establishing his reputation as champ. Itami approaches, looks him up and down and talks some trash in Japanese. Alexander then says that he will show him respect. Itami shoves him and General Manager Drake Maverick shows up with some guys to separate them.
It is announced that next week’s main event is a No DQ Match between Mustafa Ali and Buddy Murphy.
Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Lince Dorado & Gran Metalik) vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher, The Brian Kendrick & Drew Gulak (Six-Man Tag Team Elimination Match): Lucha House Party starts things off with a bang, hitting a trio of dives over the top to the floor. Multiple quick tags by Lucha House Party. Metalik walks the ropes and hits a splash then goes for a cover, but Kendrick breaks it up. Metalik hits a reverse sling-blade and looks to walk the ropes. Metalik is distracted and goes for a dive, but ends up getting head-butted by Gallagher. Gallagher goes for a cover and pins Metalik 1-2-3.
Gran Metalik is eliminated.
Lince Dorado is in there against Kendrick. Gulak tries to hold Dorado down, but gets kicked away. Dorado with a crossbody and goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Dorado heads up top again, but Kendrick flips him down to the mat. Gulak is in there now against Dorado. Gulak throws him down and Dorado’s mask comes off. He covers up his face and rolls out to the floor as Gulak laughs at his opponent. Kalisto ends up helping him but is put back out on the floor. Back in the ring, Kendrick gets in there and focuses on Dorado’s arm. The numbers game is really coming into play as Gulak and Gallagher swing away on Dorado as the referee is distracted. Dorado hits the handspring stunner on Kendrick and goes for a cover and gets the 1-2-3.
The Brian Kendrick is eliminated.
Gulak continues to work Dorado’s arm as Gallagher gets tagged in and hits a couple of european uppercuts. Dorado tries to tag out and nails Gallagher with an enziguri. Gallagher falls back and tags in Gulak. Dorado drops Gulak and as Dorado craws toward his partner, Kendrick (who should be in the back) suddenly yanks Kalisto off the apron. Gulak locks in a dragon sleeper on Dorado for the tap.
Lince Dorado is eliminated.
Kalisto takes a moment on the floor. Kalisto gets on the apron and goes to work on both Gulak and Gallagher. Kalisto tries for a cover, but Gallagher breaks it up. Gallagher gets tagged in and beats up Kalisto out on the floor as he drives Kalisto’s back into the edge of the ring. Back in the ring, Gulak gets tagged back in and power slams Kalisto into the rope then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Kalisto is able to fight off both Gallagher and Gulak and ends up kicking Gulak off the apron and hitting a Salida Del Sol on Gallagher and covering him for the 1-2-3.
Gentleman Jack Gallagher is eliminated.
Kalisto tells Gulak to “bring it” and ends up knocking Gulak to the floor. Kalisto with a flipping sitting senton. Kalisto with a high cross body into the ring and goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Kalisto tries for the Salida Del Sol, but doesn’t get it. Kalisto nails Gulak with a lariat to his back and goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Kalisto tries yet again for his finisher, but Gulak tugs at Kalisto’s mask and is able to lock in the dragon sleeper. Kalisto taps out. Winner: Drew Gulak
After the match, Gulak takes The Lucha House Party’s piñata (that also has Gulak’s face on it) and ends up throwing it into the crowd. 205 Live goes off the air.
