According to France Football, PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu has made a deal with Italian national team boss Antonio Conte that he is only guaranteed a place in Italy’s squad for EURO 2016 if he finds a club next month where he can receive regular playing time.
AC Milan, Newcastle and Aston Villa have all made contact with the player’s representatives, but the most concrete possibility for the Italian goalkeeper is AS Roma, who were already interested in the player in the summer before finally opting for Wojciech Szczesny.
The Polish international, according to the report, has failed to convince AS Roma’s coaching staff, and could return to Arsenal in January, especially if David Ospina pushes to move away from the London club after losing his first-choice spot to Petr Cech in the summer.
If that occurs, then Roma will certainly move for Sirigu. Even if Szczesny remains at Roma, then Garcia’s side might still move for the PSG number two, depending the conditions of any deal that they might try to strike with Les Parisiens.
Walter Sabatini, the AS Roma Sporting Director, knows Sirigu well having worked with him at Palermo and PSG have a good relationship with the Italian side having dealt with them recently concerning Lucas Digne.
The deal would most likely be a loan with an option-to-buy, according to the report, worth €13m.
